COME HELP US CELEBRATE OUR GERMAN HERITAGE

June 3rd, 2017 is the 251st Anniversary of the arrival of the sloop “Lovey” on

the banks of the Panaccadie (Hall’s Creek), in what was soon to become

known as the Township of Monckton. On board were eleven families that

sailed from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to settle along the muddy banks of

the Petitcodiac River.

Curious what happened next? Who were these families? What were their

names? From where did they originate? Who survived, who flourished

and who did not? Wonder about other cultures that predated the arrival of

the Lovey and what about the Empire Loyalists?

Come join us at the Moncton City Market on June 3rd to meet authors Les

Bowser and Dr. Philip Steeves to answer these questions and more.

After visiting the City Market why not treat yourself to a dinner theatre

performance at the Tide and Boar Restaurant, 700 Main St? Select your

dinner from the Tide and Boar’s extensive menu (main floor) and at no extra

charge enjoy a presentation of, The People of the Tides, (downstairs) in the

theatre of the restaurant. Playtime is 12:30 pm, which will provide time for

you to reach the re-enactment ceremonies at Settlers Landing at 2 pm. The

people of the Tides, is a Steeves House Museum production featuring, The

Between the Tides Players. There is no charge for the play. Ask restaurant

staff for directions to the downstairs theatre after ordering your lunch.

Finally, finish up your day by a visit to the Lutz Mountain Heritage Museum

for an exciting discovery about one of the German families that arrived in

1766.

Please note that the performance at the Tide and Boar (700 Main Street)
